Madison Relief Organization

We are a small group of volunteers from Madison, WI who are united by a desire to provide some relief to earthquake-ravaged Haiti. Some of us participated in a meal packing event in Waukesha, WI at the end of January 2010. At that event, volunteers packed meals for Haiti. Inspired by this experience we started organizing a similar event here in Madison, WI. Here is how it worked: The folks from Kids Against Hunger provided the dried ingredients for a nutritionally balanced meal. The 2400 volunteered that gathered on April 8-10 for our event bagged these ingredients and box them. Each bag provides 6 meals. Two semis took the boxes to port. On April 23rd, the meals arrived at Port au Prince. They are picked up by a team of Relief International and being distributed to vulnerable children, a network of women's centers, medical clinics and schools in Haiti. Madison Meals for Haiti is a project of Madison Relief Organiztion. This newly formed organiztion provided the organizational status required for Madison Meals for Haiti to be a charitable event.
