Maids-Grid Chula

The MAIDS-GRID is an international program that provides students with a comprehensive grounding on a variety of development issues. Taking a multi-disciplinary approach, courses are designed to equip students with a broad understanding of the development spectrum and its ramifications, entailing highly relevant courses, from development theory and practice, environment politics and policy, all the way to conflict resolution, public policy and politics, and immigration as a development issue. This international development degree will prepare students to pursue careers in, but not limited to, non-profit organizations, as well as government services. With its student-centered learning environment, as well as its diverse pool of students, the program also furnishes students with opportunities to experience and network in a real-world development workplace through its internship program, and various activities, such as seminars and discussion panels, as well as networking and applied field visits. MAIDS-GRID program was established in 2003 by the Centre for Social Development Studies (CSDS). The program and CSDS are both housed in the Faculty of Political Science of Chulalongkorn University. The faculty is the first Thai school offering a Master of Arts, as well as a Doctor of Philosophy degrees in the area of international development studies. Today, the Faculty also stands as one of the most prestigious political science schools in Thailand. The Master of Arts in International Development Studies (MAIDS) is a full-time one-year program, while the Doctor of Philosophy in International Development Studies (GRID) takes two to three years.
