Mamelani walks alongside people in their development. Our initiatives build on the existing knowledge and strengths of participants ensuring that people feel valued, respected, and listened to. We believe that everyone has a part to play in transforming themselves and their communities. What does Mamelani do? We partner with youth, women, organisations, and community change-makers to advance access to health and well-being services and build resilience in ways that bring about transformation in communities. OUR 3 FOCUS AREAS ARE: Community Health and Well-being We promote health and well-being at both an individual and community level. We run a series of community-based health and well-being workshops in which we share essential health information that addresses key challenges faced by communities. Our community adherence clubs ensure that people living with HIV have quick access to medication, user-friendly care, and peer support. Youth Resilience The Youth Resilience Initiative is an integrated system-wide approach to supporting youth in their transitions from alternative care. The initiative works at three levels. Firstly, we collaborate with youth in their transitions from alternative care. Secondly, we provide training, consultation, and supportive environments to strengthen them in ways organizations build resilience with young people. And thirdly, we influence policy and legislation to ensure that transitional support and after-care services are strengthened in the child protection and youth sectors. Community Development Our community development initiatives are aimed at growing a nation of grassroots leaders and building networks of support in communities. We strengthen the leadership capacity of grassroots leaders and support them in developing interventions that can have a positive impact on those around them.
