HISTORY The Manchee family has over 50 years experience in the leather industry – from shoes, accessories and garments, to high-end upholstery leathers. Philip Manchee, the founder of Manchee Leather, has a long history in the leather business. At age 18 he worked in an Italian Calf Tannery in Varese, Italy. After completing his university degree, he moved to Perugia, Italy to study the Italian language. He continued to live in Italy working in several tanneries in the Vicenza(Arzignano) area. He was then a founding member of Spinneybeck, and together with his family, created the C.O.L. supply business in the early 70’s, bringing exquisite Italian upholstery leathers to the North American market. Philip founded Spinneybeck’s upholstery leather division and personally developed many of their best selling products. The Manchee family eventually sold the business to Knoll and Philip remained with Knoll / Spinneybeck for four years following the sale of the company. Since leaving Spinneybeck, Philip has maintained his high profile in the leather industry as an independent consultant to numerous private and manufacturing clients. For example, he worked several years developing and producing the Hunt Leather program for Holly Hunt. MISSION Manchee Leather works with a large tannery group in Italy, and we are dedicated to providing the finest quality and selection of European hides to the high-end hospitality, residential and interior design industry. We inventory a large variety of qualities and colors with a strong capacity to provide custom colors rapidly. With years of experience and the finest technical capabilities we provide leathers from the floor to the ceiling and anything in between. We continue to provide “Private Label” programs to a variety of manufacturers and distributors so our products are widespread. From the basics to the exotics we have something for everyone.
