Manhattan Solid Waste Advisory Board Mswab
The Manhattan Solid Waste Advisory Board (MSWAB) is a volunteer citizens’ advisory board created in 1989 by Local Law 19. We are catalysts for advancing ideas, insights, and initiatives to achieve NYC’s goal of sending "Zero Waste" to landfills and incinerators by 2030. We advocate for reduction of consumption and promotion of reuse, repair, recycle, and composting through three main channels-Policy input (attending hearings, writing letters)-Thought leadership (organizing public forums, distributing recycling guides)-Grant-making (sponsoring annual Community Composting and Reuse, Reduce, and Repair grants) Our 32 members, selected by the Manhattan Borough President’s Office, serve two-year terms. All meetings are open to the public.
