a nose-to-tail italian-inspired restaurant, focusing on whole-animal butchery, hand-rolled pastas, wood-fired breads, and our own in-house salumeria, with low-intervention and fine wines, as well as amari-focused cocktails. we're part of a young and growing restaurant group, owned by david carter and chris leach, focused on building a strong, healthy, and happy company culture for our employees, where we invest in training to build core skills and career opportunities for our team. many of our senior managers started their journey with us as junior team members and have worked their way up into the positions they hold today. established as a four-month pop-up [10 heddon street] in the summer of 2019, this successful short-term residency paved the way for what was to become the first iteration of manteca. manteca soho opened in november 2019 on great marlborough street, as a two-year residency. throughout the lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, the restaurant opened as and when it was possible to do so, focusing on helping with charity meals and take-away service, when it was not. despite the limitations, manteca gained a place at no.95 in the 2021 national restaurant awards. by mid-2021, the plans and build were well underway for the shoreditch site, which was to become manteca's first permanent home; and in autumn 2021, the lease for manteca soho came to a close, just in time for the final push to get the shoreditch site open. manteca shoreditch opened in november 2021 to much acclaim; early critic reviews helped to secure manteca's place as one of london's top restaurants; last year, manteca was at no. 11 in the 2022 national restaurant awards, and received a michelin bib gourmand. we value and nurture individuals, providing training and mentorship to those who are looking to develop their hospitality careers with us. we are committed to building and developing a work environment that inspires, supports, and builds up our team for their future
