Ethereum Address Service (EAS) has rebranded to Mapstone. Ethereum Address Service (EAS) pioneered the concept of transforming real-world addresses into unique, tradeable non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the blockchain. As the original platform to introduce address-based NFTs, EAS demonstrated how blockchain technology could extend beyond digital art into real-world location and identity primitives. Built on Ethereum smart contracts, EAS enabled users to mint and trade global addresses as NFTs, establishing a new category of blockchain-based digital property. Each address and postal code was represented by a single, unique NFT, introducing scarcity, provenance, and on-chain ownership to real-world locations. This work now continues under Mapstone, the next evolution of the EAS platform, expanding the original vision into a broader on-chain mapping and real-world asset infrastructure.
