Mark Bijak Illustration

I hand-draw bold and playful illustrations with the simple aim of raising a smile. I have been developing a bold and playful style inspired by vintage printing techniques and built around a process of hand drawn (ink & paper) original artwork that is digitally edited and recoloured. I grew up in Newbury and moved to London to study a Design BA at Goldsmiths College during which time I dreamed of becoming a ‘serious’ typographic designer. Since then I have worked as a graphic designer for agencies and clothing brands (both here in the UK and USA) along with the slow realisation I wasn’t built to be a serious designer and instead better suited to oddball illustrations and colouring in. I love to create fun and quirky logos and have helped all kinds of different businesses to visualise their ‘brand personality’ - from start-up clothing brands to record labels, media production companies to an organic juice brand. Another big part of my client work is creating humorous kids t-shirt prints for clothing brands (Boden, Joules and Crew Clothing etc.). I wrote my university dissertation on the influence of t-shirt graphics and have been creating them ever since!
