Marronageorg

MarronageOrg is preserving and celebrating the cultural heritage of marronage communities worldwide. These self-emancipated "freedom colony" communities have often been neglected and at risk of losing their histories, spaces, and autonomy due to the systemic white supremacy of Western cultural heritage preservation policies, legislation, programming and administration. Our comprehensive approach includes a digital database, interactive map, oral history archive, and international network, all focused on preserving and honoring the stories of these remarkable communities. It is home to the Mapping Freedom initiative (tMFi), its International Association of Freedom Colonies (iAFC) and Oral History Archives, and serves as the digital humanities portion of a Political Thought and Intellectual History dissertation research at Cambridge, and is incubated at Cambridge Enterprises CRoSS (Commercialisation of Research out of Social Sciences) Ideas Incubator.
