Marsh Dog® makes eco sustainable dog treats using an invasive species, wild nutria. Nutria meat is a lean, clean, organic source of high grade protein. Unlike commercially farmed proteins, beef, lamb, and fowl, wild nutria are not given antibiotics or growth hormones, consume naturally occurring vegetation, and the use of nutria makes for a negative carbon foot print. Nutria meat is not treated with any additives used in commercial meats such as transglutaminase, colorings, sodium, antioxidants, flavorings, binders, bromeliad, phosphates, or gelatins. Our line of all-natural dog treats are made in the USA with USA sourced ingredients. Nutria are an invasive species brought from South America for the fur trade. Having escaped into the wetlands, these beaver-like mammals pose a serious environmental threat by literally devouring coastal marsh. Thousands must be removed to protect the environment. We thinking making use of this healthy, eco-sustainable resource is a smart solution. Marsh Dog® provides dog owners a simple and fun way to contribute to coastal conservation. We also provide resources to increase awareness about invasive species and their environmental impact. Marsh Dog® was established with a grant from The Barataria-Terrebonne National Estuary Program and has been recognized by the Louisiana Wildlife Federation, the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, and the US Senate for Small Business. Multiple national, state, and independent conservation groups have hailed Marsh Dog® for employing an entrepreneurial solution to address a serious environmental problem.
