Martial News

Martial News is an online newspaper dedicated to combat and martial arts. It covers all of Scotland and the North of England but also has national and international news pages. It is a broad church publication that covers all aspects of martial arts regardless of style or system. As well as carrying news stories it has a strong blog section with some of the top instructors in their fields blogging for the newspaper. One of the bloggers - Sue Wharton - was recently voted one of the top bloggers in the world and the newspaper declared the best of its kind on the web. As well as supporting the martial arts community, Martial News actively encourages groups and clubs to contribute to society through holding charity events. The newspaper is a major supporter of the Marfest - an international martial arts festival held annually in Sunderland. All the money from this events goes to Cancer Research UK. The company which owns Martial News, DFM Self-protection Ltd, also runs large fight shows and courses in health and safety, first aid, conflict resolution, self-protection and student street safe courses among others. It also runs a number of clubs and has a full-time gym called the Fight Academy in Berwick, Northumberland, which trains mixed martial arts and kickboxing fighters.
