At Martinson Golly, we do transportation differently – “Community. Creativity. Complete Streets.” We are a Canadian, employee-owned transportation planning and engineering consulting firm that specializes in active transportation, Complete Streets, mobility plans, and Vision Zero. But really, our business is empowerment. We help communities take steps to become more sustainable, livable, and inclusive. Since 2004, Ryan and Tyler have been collaborating on projects; initially as graduate students, and later as professional engineers with previous employers. You’ve likely seen us leading training sessions, sharing ideas at conferences, working on projects, and having fun! We are passionate about active, sustainable transportation, so in 2023, Ryan (Martinson) and Tyler (Golly) created Martinson Golly Ltd.(see what we did there?). Through our work, we’ve seen how thoughtful design and people-centred planning can transform communities. If you have worked with us in the past, you know we use thoughtful and creative techniques that not only create consensus, but are also fun to develop together with our clients. Our collaborative processes build collective understanding because, for us, it’s important to bring people together and make the science behind transportation accessible. “Ideas rooted in research, grown through curiosity” – Our ideas are rooted in research and best practices, and are constantly evolving due to our perpetual curiosity, keenness to learn, and collaboration with international experts. Sometimes these ideas come to life in cartoons or Lego. Other times it’s design concepts and guidelines, strategies, action plans, or journal articles. We work with clients that are committed to sustainability, health, and equity.
