Marvellous Millinery

I am Simon Meanwell-Ralph, founder and millinery designer at Marvellous Millinery in Winchester, Hampshire. From my Rose Garden Studio, I work exclusively with Mother of the Bride, Mother of the Groom and guests attending elegant occasions from church weddings to Royal Ascot, Windsor Castle investitures and Buckingham Palace garden parties. Since establishing Marvellous Millinery in 2011, I have created hundreds of bespoke and ready-to-wear hats. Many clients arrive feeling unsure what suits them; together we explore proportion, colour and balance so they leave with a design that feels comfortable, photographs beautifully and completes their outfit with confidence. My background combines a first-class honours degree in accessory design with experience at Liberty and Harvey Nichols in London, followed by managing contemporary art galleries while developing my own jewellery collections. This mix of design training and high-end retail means I understand not only how to construct a hat, but how to create a piece that flatters your face shape and works effortlessly with your dress, shoes and accessories. All appointments are private, one-to-one consultations in my purpose-built studio, so you have my full attention. You are welcome to bring your full outfit so we can view everything together in natural light, trying different shapes, brim sizes and trims until we find the right balance of tradition, elegance and personality. Bespoke commissions take six to ten weeks. If time is short, my Ready-to-Wear Collection offers unique designs finished to couture standards. My aim is simple: to help you feel “put together” rather than dressed up in something that doesn’t feel like you.
