Matson Tea

A single shop was established in 1968 as Matson Tea as a commission agent and exporter of green and black teas in Maharaj Gunj Srinagar. The company was registered as Abdul Khaliq and Sons. As the business grew in the region, Matson Tea which was called Mattoo Sons back then, started supplying green and black teas in the valley in a B2B business model and slowly entered into B2C and modern trade. The company took control over the region and started covering corporates, hotels and cafes and eventually started blending new modern flavours into the customers. Matson Tea started blending herbal teas in the area, making us the first company from the valley to do so. As a company specialising in teas, with over 50 years of experience in the tea industry, with a conscious decision, we began with a single store as commission agents and exporters of green and black tea. We grew to cover the B2B industry, modern trade, corporate, and hospitality industries. Today, we are planning an e-commerce tea store so that matson tea can be purchased globally. The Kashmir market consumes the most green tea out of all states. We aspire to become the tea brand of choice in Kashmir and internationally. Matson still banks on Kashmiri Kehwa and Noon Chai as its flagship products having a global reach and clientele. Today Matson Tea is supplying to countries like UAE and Africa. With a vision that Kashmiri products like Kashmiri Noon Chai and Kehwa should be available to every Kashmiri community residing outside Kashmir.
