Hand-etched leather \\ Leather holds still. It carries memory. As one of humankind’s earliest materials, it holds history, resilience and permanence. Every incision is final. No revisions. No second chances. Each work is hand etched using surgical scalpels, through a slow, deliberate process where time, patience and control converge. No two pieces are alike. Each one is shaped by the natural character of the hide and the permanence of its cuts. Exploring themes of connection, memory and identity, my latest work, Skin to Skin, is a composite palm etched from the handprints of individuals across the United Arab Emirates. Each line and crease is real. Together, they form a portrait of many lives drawn into one. The final mark was made using my newborn daughter’s palm. Completed over five years and more than 1,500 hours, the work stands as a record of human presence and shared experience. Based in the UAE.
