Melar Sport is an Icelandic company for the sports society. The company is based on two major foundations which are sports agency services and sports consulting services. Melar Sport – Sports Agency specializes in agency services for athletes and coaches in football and team handball. The agency has detailed information on athletes and coaches and works as a channel between them and various teams, coaches and sport executives in a number of countries. The agency handles the clients and clubs interests, while providing it´s clients with consulting and guidance on performance, contracts, and other matters. Melar Sport – Consulting Office specializes in the psychosocial aspects of sports and services individual athletes, teams, sport clubs, sport organizations, municipality governments, state governments and other companies. The consulting office offers general lectures, individual and team success consulting, consulting on sports policy making, and sports research for clubs or sports governing bodies. The company was established in 2009 around the businesses of Dr. Viðars Halldórssonar, sport sociologist and Magnúsar Agnars Magnússonar, football agents. The company name is drawn from the roots of sports in Iceland. Melar were the first sports area and the place of the first sports stadiums and had great impact on Icelandic sports for almost a century in the formative years of established sports in the country. The company seeks it´s ideology to these forming years of Icelandic sports which were based on a strong set of values in terms of success such as industriousness, integrity and respect.
