Mendon-Upton Education Foundation

The Mendon-Upton Education Foundation (MUEF), founded in 2005, represents an important resource for education innovation in Mendon and Upton. Many cities and towns throughout Massachusetts support education foundations to enhance public education. An education foundation is a non-profit, private charitable organization that seeks tax-deductible gifts and bequests from citizens, businesses, and organizations. There is an important need for public schools to have funds over and above what is provided through taxes. This source of funds can make the difference between an average experience for students and an opportunity to excel and enjoy something special in education. Over the past several years, MUEF has raised and distributed over in grants across all four schools in the district. This year the foundation has taken on a new focus with two main goals:(1) to support curriculum enhancements in the five key areas of STEM, Technology in the Classroom, World Languages/Cultural Proficiency, Fine and Performing Arts and Pro-social Behaviors/Positive Choices and (2) to support efforts to obtain larger grants for the district that align with one or more of these five areas. These initiatives will be prominent in the district’s new five-year strategic plan.
