Mentoralia A. C

Mentoralia works to inspire and train girls to become leaders in technology and entrepreneurship. Specifically we coordinate the Technovation Girls program in Mexico. The Technovation Girls program was started in the US in 2010, was brought to Mexico in 2013, and was formalized as a local non-profit, Mentoralia, in 2019. Technovation Girls is a structured 12-week program where girls 10 to 18 years old build a mobile app and create a business plan that addresses a community problem, learning coding skills and entrepreneurship. The girls have support of trained mentors, and an online curriculum provided by Technovation, the global non-profit. We establish relationships with local universities, schools, and high tech companies to recruit, train, and match mentors & participants. To support the girls and mentors we organize workshops covering the curriculum topics: design thinking, programming, UX design, marketing, business planning, and pitching. To motivate the participants we organize company visits, and regional competitions. Mentoralia also supports volunteer regional leaders to strengthen the program on the national level. At the end of the program girls present their projects at regional finals events. The winners continue on in the international competition, which culminates with a World Summit. In 2018, close to girls registered from across 115 countries. In Mexico over 1,500 girls have completed more than 450 projects creating solutions to better their communities with the support of 800 passionate volunteer mentors. Mexican teams have been finalists at the world summit three times (only 10 are invited), and a global winner once. In 2019, Mentoralia hosted the Technovation México Summit for top 12 teams.
