Mesa Atelier

Founded in 2017 by Ana Isabel Santos, João Tavares, João Varela and Paulo Dias, Mesa Atelier is the result of intense research and experimentation started in academia and progressing towards the development of several projects presented in the most diverse architectural competitions national and international. To the collective experience is added the individual experience of the different elements that make up the team and that contribute to add value to the process of working together. The approach to each project is expressed in the recognition of the territory, its values and the elements that characterize it. This methodology allows to attribute to each intervention unique characteristics of valorization and understanding of the constructed and biophysical elements. Each project being unique, it is in the use of local raw materials, in the study of the construction techniques of vernacular architecture, in the economy of resources and in the values present in each building or surrounding landscape that the guiding thread for most approaches and interventions is found.
