I work for international companies as CFO or Manager/Director of Finance & Control on an interim basis. Together with Senior Management Teams and staff alike, and at their respective locations, I make sure financial data is interpreted correctly and within the right business and strategic context. I am absolutely convinced that in order to interpret financial data correctly, it is indispensable to understand the fundamentals of the business: its products, processes and people. The success of my work is based on understanding not only the numbers but how my client's business operates in its entirety. In addition, I will be more than happy to assume a leading role for certain tasks in international project management. Typically, I am mandated to- introduce an effective KPI system- set up a reliable and resilient reporting system- structure the finance department to support international operations and expansions There are three reasons why I like to work as a CFO or Director/Manager Finance & Control: First, it allows me to do real pioneering work. Even early on in my professional career, I had the opportunity to venture out into unchartered territory, for example with an SAP implementation as one of the first 50 users worldwide. Secondly, my work enables me to link numbers, e.g. financial data, with the overall business performance. Which key data does the business need in order to be successful? What are the meaningful indicators to be derived from such data? In order to run an organization effectively and profitably, you must find answers to those questions. The third reason is that I find it intriguing how rapidly organizations become more internationalized. The more internationalized a business becomes, the more important it is to link data from various operational units. I have had first-hand experience of this while working in such diverse locations as London, Stockholm or Mantua.
