Microforest Collective

Microforest Collective is a not-for-profit platform that finds and equips capable local leaders to create fast-growing native microforests that cool cities, capture carbon and bring neighbours together. We don’t plant forests for people. We build the pathway that lets ordinary residents deliver them — approvals, insurance, templates, tools, fundraising systems, and a simple structure that takes the friction out of community-led projects. Our model is lean by design. We’re volunteer-run, transitioning to charity and DGR status, and building a permanent backbone that can support dozens of projects with minimal staff. The goal is a scalable civic infrastructure: one platform, many leaders, lasting public spaces. What we do: • Find and equip local leaders with the systems, guidance and confidence to run high-quality microforest projects • Support schools, councils and community groups with site assessment, approvals maps and delivery tools • Provide centralised governance, insurance, fundraising infrastructure and lightweight digital systems • Help communities design, fund and build microforests that become part of everyday civic life Why it matters: Cities are getting hotter, harder and more fragmented. Microforests give people a way to reclaim and repair small public spaces — fast, cheap and locally led. When you build the system once, every new project becomes easier, faster and more resilient.
