Micromanagement Inc. provides microbial control solutions for potable water systems in buildings, with emphasis on remediation of Legionella-contaminated plumbing and continuous supplemental disinfection of domestic water. ABOUT US We are a team of dedicated scientists and engineers, under the leadership of Peter W. Johnson, CEO. Mr. Johnson-formerly a senior executive with a global chemical company—is a graduate of Manhattan College (BS, Chemical Engineering) and the Univ. of Delaware (MBA). CONTEXT Legionella bacteria can cause Legionnaires’ disease, an often-severe pneumonia that frequently requires hospitalization. Conditions often found in building plumbing systems—stagnant, tepid water; lack of a disinfectant residual—act like an incubator and support the amplification of relatively-small numbers of Legionella into very large numbers. Legionella are part of a complex microbial ecosystem, in which biofilm and protozoa play a defining role. Understanding the microbial ecology of domestic water systems informs our detailed approach to microbial control.
