Built on 196 years of local journalism, the Midcoast Villager’s mission is to connect the community of midcoast Maine through the stories of its people and the issues they care about most. The Villager is the latest evolution of community news for Knox and Waldo counties, combining the coverage and legacies of The Free Press, Courier-Gazette, Village Soup, Republican Journal, and Camden Herald. We are driven by the idea that a local newspaper’s job is no longer just to report news, but to bring our community together and find solutions to make this place we love even better. The Villager serves midcoast Maine, primarily Knox and Waldo counties, with the latest news, in-depth solutions-based journalism, profiles of our community members, arts and culture coverage, and voices and opinions from across the region. We believe that community news has a bigger role to play now more than ever — one that connects people to their neighbors and the places they call home.
