Minarah College

Minarah College is an independent co-educational Islamic school catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. The College was established in January 2002 as Green Valley Islamic College by the Muslim League of NSW Inc. The College develops an enriched learning community by providing holistic education and by promoting excellence and leadership, imbued with Islamic values, to be exemplary citizens in a multicultural society. Deeply embedded in our aspirations and attitudes, our core or foundational values (respect, ownership, caring, knowledge and safety) are the essence of Minarah College’s ethos, which define who we are and guide our behaviours and interactions with people. In 2020, a new strategic direction was undertaken by a new board to build on the College's foundation to expand and transform teaching and learning to be more innovating, engaging and rewarding for both students and staff. The board's Shaping Futures Together strategic plan pursues bold transformational initiatives including a greater range of subjects that will launch our students to be contributors and leaders in a digitally conscious society. To give our students and teachers the best in teaching and learning resources the strategic plan includes an extensive digital transformation initiative that embraces the information age. With enrolment numbers at full capacity and in response to growing demand, the board entered an agreement with the Muslim League of NSW Inc to lease an 11 acre property at Catherine Field to build a second campus which is anticipated to open in 2025. After collaborative consultation with the community and key stakeholders, a decision was made by the Board of Directors to change the name of Green Valley Islamic College to Minarah College. Minarah (minaret), is a tower, or pillar, or beacon that gives direction. Minarah College is a community that invites all students, staff and parents to join us on the journey of Shaping Futures Together.
