MINEPROMET provides research and process development services based on the specialized needs of our clients in the mining industry. MINEPROMET targets junior and mid-tier customers looking to explore their processing options early on in the resource development process. Tapping into his educational and work experience, Patrick Kerr offers a unique ability to approach processing challenges presented when dealing with difficult to concentrate ores. Based on his work with the segregation process and work on the Clear Hills ironstone deposits, he has had the opportunity to research a broad spectrum of process innovations that are applicable in many different metal processing scenarios. He understands that every ore deposit is unique and that careful attention should be paid to the big picture when developing a process for a specific deposit. The most popular processing technique is not necessarily the most economical processing technique and with his diverse knowledge of various processing methods and a complementary background in characterization and mineralogy, he can offer novel solutions to challenging ore deposit types, which can drastically improve the economics of concentrating these deposits. Although he is not a geologist, he does understand geology in relation to mineral deposits and this formational comprehension is often the key to unlocking or reverse engineering the mineral and metal reserves. This geometallurgical approach is becoming more popular, as mentioned previously, a big picture approach is often critical from the very beginning of resource development to ensure that the projects will gain traction with the financial industry. If a good plan has not been established from the beginning, it will be very difficult to raise funds going into the future. While attending the UofA, working at Ironstone and COREM, he had to opportunity to work with such companies as: Actlabs, GeoMega, Hatch, Hazen, FLS, KPM, MEFOS, Met-Solve, Rio Tinto, SGS, and SRK.
