Minority Scholars Program
The Minority Scholars Program (MSP) is a student-led, student-based, and student-driven movement dedicated to closing the opportunity gap in Montgomery County Public Schools through four key initiatives: community outreach, peer-to-peer mentoring, college visits, and speaker series. Founded in 2005 at Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, Maryland. The program was started in response to the lack of Black and Latinx students in rigorous classes and extracurricular activities. Typically, Minority Scholars foster community through task force meetings, yearly leadership retreats, and summer internships.
