Based on legislation in Germany and Austria, the GHG quota allows owners of electric vehicles to certify and market the CO2 emissions saved by their electric vehicles and public charging facilities. The legislation assumes that a purely battery-electric vehicle, which is not powered by fossil fuels, saves CO2 in traffic each year. The certification body for the annual CO2 savings of a vehicle is the Federal Environment Agency.
