Mirrorneurocare

In 2022, the number of new cases of stroke was estimated at 15 millions, and it will be 70 millions by 2030. To treat these strokes, which are often very disabling, MirrorNeuroCare is developing an innovative digital therapy to rehabilitate patients' upper limbs. These are rehabilitation programs based on action observation, assisted by artificial intelligence. They exploit the properties of mirror neurons, discovered by an Italian team in the 1990s. These neurons are automatically activated both when an individual performs an act and when he or she observes another individual performing the same act. This property represents a major asset for immobilized patients. This therapy has several competitive advantages: it can be performed early after the injury (while the patient is still paralyzed), does not require the intervention of a caregiver. It is also accessible to a large number of people because it is based on a software base that is easy to distribute. Finally, it has proven its effectiveness during the first clinical trials in 2021. The founding team of Mirrorneurocare is complementary (Co-discoverer of mirror neurons, Professor of neuroscience, neurologist, digital entrepreneur) and has all the necessary assets to make this project a real success.
