Mission Remission

Mission Remission is the only UK charity solely dedicated to supporting people moving forward after cancer. Our mission is simple: to ensure every cancer survivor has the emotional, physical and community support needed to live a happy, healthy, independent life. Over 90% of people find the time after treatment as difficult as during diagnosis. While NHS services often stop at the end of cancer treatment, the emotional and physical fallout continues. Cancer survivors are faced with the need to return to “normal” life, when life no longer feels normal. Only 10% of people are ready to move on when treatment is over. We believe that life after cancer can be filled with possibility, if people have the resources, and support, they need to thrive. As a user-run organisation (everyone in the team has experience of cancer), we provide a sanctuary for all, including the 52% of people who face a rare cancer and have no large disease-specific charity to champion them. With a strong community, we advocate for the issues that matter to people (like faster diagnosis, better financial security, and removing barriers preventing people from returning to work) and provide resources and support to make life beyond cancer a little less scary and a lot more hopeful, including: • Life Beyond Cancer Toolkit - online toolkit including over 150 stories, strategies and tips written by cancer survivors • Mission Possible - fitness and walking programme • Mission Thrive - counselling and coaching programme • Recovery Cafe - monthly online meet-ups to help survivors connect, rebuild strength, and find hope.
