Mission With A Vision
Kenyan girls at risk of female genital mutilation and forced childhood marriage have a safe haven in Narok, in Kenya’s Maasai region. Since 1997, Mission With A Vision since 1997 has rescued, kept safe and educated more than 3,500 girls and young women fleeing female genital mutilation (FGM) and forced childhood marriage (FCM). During that time, most of those frightened adolescent girls with little or no education have grown up to become independent women who, by example, are helping to break the cultural norms that support genital cutting and childhood marriage. The mission is to give every girl escaping this gender-based violence an opportunity to pursue a life of better health, higher education, and better employment. MWAV provides a safe home, educational opportunities, vocational training, and emotional support to help the girls and young women in our care thrive. When possible and desired, we work to help reconcile the girls and women with their families.
