Mitra Bumma

We partner with tribes in Indonesia, home to the third largest rainforest and fourth longest coastline in the world. Our mission is to create the capacity and resources for tribes to create indigenous-led businesses, called BUMMAs. These BUMMAs produce forest-grown products, eco-tourism, and carbon-sequestration enterprises that protect the planet and preserve culture. They provide jobs and collectively shared income to these communities while also creating real bargaining power with government agencies and in the marketplace. In doing so, we are shifting power from institutions and corporations to indigenous communities who are at the forefront of protecting the forests and oceans.
