Mixed Up Clothing
Now available at Macy's, Mixed Up Clothing is founded by an AfroLatina Registered Nurse turned fashion designer, Sonia Smith Kang. Mom of 4 multicultural and multilingual children, Sonia saw a lack of diversity in fashion, so she created Mixed Up Clothing, a childrenswear line designed through a multicultural lens, to fill a gap in the market and solve for the lack of representation in fashion. Inspired by her Black and Latino heritage, Smith Kang is also a proud military brat born in Puerto Rico and then stationed on the Hawaiian island of O'ahu. Sonia and her designs have appeared on the Today show, The Real, NPR, Medium, Upworthy, Latina, and Parent Latina. Married to her Korean husband, Sonia calls Los Angeles home where she is a writer, multicultural expert, advocate, and activist serving as vice-president of Multiracial Americans of Southern California.
