MKAI – Understanding Power, Responsibility, and Human Agency in the Age of AI MKAI is an independent institute that examines how artificial intelligence redistributes power and responsibility across human systems. We study how automation changes governance, capability, and decision-making inside organisations and institutions. Our purpose is to bring clarity where technological change creates complexity. We work with governments, educators, and business leaders to translate rapid advances in AI into frameworks that strengthen integrity, accountability, and long-term resilience. Founded in 2019, MKAI originated as Morality and Knowledge in Artificial Intelligence. Today, the name represents a broader mission: to ensure that technical capability is matched by social understanding. Through independent research, collaborative enquiry, and strategic briefings, MKAI provides grounded analysis for leaders navigating AI’s structural impact. Our work bridges academic insight and organisational practice, ensuring that progress in AI strengthens rather than weakens human agency. Founder and Chair: Richard Foster-Fletcher Richard Foster-Fletcher is a UK-based AI strategist and recognised voice on AI governance and capability.
