Modemuseum Hasselt Mmh

The collection of the Modemuseum Hasselt (Fashion Museum Hasselt) counts just about items ranging from clothing, shoes, handbags, accessories to undergarments. The collection policy is aimed at acquiring and conserving historical pieces of clothing as well as items from contemporary designers and keep them in the most optimal conditions. The initial collection of the MMH consists of a collection of the Romanian scenographer and costume designer Andreï Ivaneanu (1936-1989). Since 1989 his collection has been added to with purchases and donations. During the 1990s the MMH was pleased to receive several historical top items from the 18th and 19th century. The pieces from the 20th century vary from haute couture to ceremonial and ready-to-wear. Apart from clothes from international fashion houses, the MMH also collects couture from Hasselt designers such as Jeurissen and Moray. Extra attention is given to Limburg designers with an international character such as Martin Margiela and Raf Simons as stipulated in the collection policy about contemporary fashion.
