Modern Home Qatar

In the 1940s, the Al-Darwish family offered several solutions to support the local market, including its retail arm, “Canteen Doha", which formed the starting point of an exceptional journey as it paved the way for the establishment of Modern Home, Qatar's first department store, in 1949 in the Msheireb area. Modern Home enabled Qataris to visualize the future as it was the premier store to offer television sets, watches, clothing and cosmetics, and fragrances while serving as a symbol of our beloved country’s evolution, Qatar. To intensify the strength of Modern Home and raise its profile further, a selection of the world’s most renowned brands was brought to Qatar. With the introduction of globally respected names like Rolex (1951), CHANEL (1954), L'Oréal (1957), and Sony (1958), Modern Home started to shine as an icon of prosperity and symbolic change while building strong relationships based on mutual trust with clients and brands alike which still resonate till today.
