A LITTLE HISTORY The origin of Moehl Millwork goes back to 1897 when Bill Carr of Dubuque and Ernie Moehl Of Des Moines started Carr & Moehl Co. on S.W. 9th in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1964, Bob Moehl and five fellow employees left Carr & Moehl and started Moehl Millwork. Following the death of Bob Moehl in 1975 employees managed the organization until 1987. As part of Moehl Millworks growth, the company acquired Kansas City Millwork in 1991. Don Rudd purchased the company on September 30, On December 1st, 2017 Don Rudd sold Moehl Millwork and Kansas City Millwork to Building Material Distributors, Inc.(BMD). Established in 1943, BMD is a distributor and manufacturer of specialty building products and millwork. Moehl is now part of the BMD family of companies and is proud to now be 100% employee-owned. As an employee-owned company, we will continue our history of local ownership with our employee's owners continuing to do the right thing, being accountable, holding other accountable, and all the while providing great products and great service.
