Mohanam

The Mohanam mission is to act as a bridge between Auroville (an intentional community, see and its surrounding villages and to keep alive the local rural Tamil cultural heritage. The Auroville Bamboo Centre is a Mohanam activity offering Bamboo construction and furniture making as well as bamboo product research, design and development. In addition to promoting bamboo for a greener earth, the aim is to support the Mohanam Community Centre financially. We also have close links to the commercial Auroville unit Lively. Lively markets bamboo, kolam embroidery and village handicraft products, as well as fabrics, tailoring and more.
