Montepiatti

Montepiatti is a wine company located on two and a half hectares in Colli Trevigiani that makes bottle-fermented wines from Glera grapes using artisanal techniques. Our farming approach prioritises land care and vineyard sustainability. Each bottle displays our love of tradition and commitment to sustainable farming practices. IN THE WINERY "Primo" is an orange sparkling wine produced in limited quantities from the Glera grapes from the vineyard's oldest parcel and the Bianchetta trevigiana plants that grow throughout the vineyard. During the 14-day fermentation period at an unregulated temperature, the wine is manually and daily punched down. Sulphites are kept to a minimum, and decanting is done just as needed. Indigenous yeasts and grape must are used for re-fermentation in the bottle in spring. The wine is then rested until November before being released into the market. IN THE VINEYARD The management of the vineyard follows the principles of organic viticulture, reducing phytosanitary treatments and mechanical interventions to a minimum. Pruning, green pruning, topping and harvesting are done by hand. Biodegradable consumables such as maize fibre and jute ties are preferably used. Efforts are made to stimulate biodiversity in order to create a more sustainable ecosystem (beehives, bird calls and feeders, grassing for pollinating insects, maintenance of hedges and groves). The replanting of failures is carried out with rooted cuttings produced ad hoc through mass and clonal selection from 50-60 year-old vine varieties present in the area.
