Casa Monteveneto Artigianato e Qualità The history of the House of Monteveneto began in Almadén (Spain) in 1895, which was declared a Human Heritage site by UNESCO. At that time, Victor Osorio, influenced by his good friend Stefano Maurini, founded the House of Osorio (currently known as the House of Monteveneto) as a quality saddlery workshop, dedicated to the production of horse riding saddles, trunks and accessories for transport made of leather and carriages in the spirit of the old Italian and Spanish traditions. In 1906, to mark the event of the Milano International Exhibition (on this occasion dedicated to transport), the company decided to collaborate with some of its innovative creations: luggage packing, trunks and accessories for carriages. After the untimely death of Victor Osorio, in 1909 Eutimo Osorio, his son, took over the House of Osorio workshop at the tender age of seventeen. At the time the best and most prestigious horse riding saddles and trunks were handmade by the top master saddlers in Europe,specifically in Spain, Italy and France. Eutimio started working with Italian, Spanish and French merchants who distributed his leather riding saddles and horse tackle throughout Europe and America in the XIX century. Laboratorio Internazionale di Pelle, creatività e tradizione In 1929, continuing his father’s work, he decided to collaborate in two international fairs held that year, specifically the Seville Ibero-American Universal Fair and the Barcelona International Exhibition. The name chosen by Eutimio Osorio, ”Monteveneto”,around 1931, refers to the Italian region of Veneto,a place of inspiration for some of the greatest thinkersand philosophers in Italian history. Veneto also has a great leatherworking tradition. Following the second world war, the company closed down until 1969,when Adriana Osorio, Eutimo’s daughter, decided to continue the family tradition,thus recovering the knowledge in leather toolingacquired over three generations.
