Montpetit Studios Inc

Montpetit Studios aka Working Glass Studios houses production and design facilities including kilns, a sand-blasting booth, cold working equipment, and layout & design areas. I opened my first studio in 1994 in the Vancouver area as part of the Experimental Glass Group, a loose collaboration of artists sharing the space, equipment and ideas. As the various parties prospered in their separate endeavors, expansion of my business became inevitable. In 1998, I took over the entire space renaming the facility Montpetit Studios. In 2003, The studio was moved out to Procter in the Kootenay region of south central British Columbia. For a brief period, the studio was relocated to the lower mainland in the Steveston area before the final move to the current location in Lake Country, Okanagan, BC. My tendency is to develop not only designs but techniques and methodology as well. As many of the techniques offered by Montpetit Studios are unique, I have custom designed much of the equipment to meet these needs while other elements have been re-purposed from a variety of sources. In the same manner, there is a conscious effort to draw from the skills, technical abilities and industrial processes found within the area – recognizing potential for integration to expand the abilities of the studio.
