Moran Blind School
n 1971, while working in tea, Major S.N. Banerjee (Bruno) founded the Janamangal Adarsha Andha Bidyalaya, in Moranhat, Assam. The school has, since, also come to be known as the Moran Blind School. After thirty good years of service to the industry and the people of Assam, Major Banerjee, finally retired from tea, in 1982 and, since then, his son took over the helm of affairs. It is under his stewardship, that donors who respected and honored the good will built by his father, continue to lend their unstinting support. Today, from a single mud hut in the 70's, Moran Blind School has grown into a lovely campus with a children's playground maintained by the Ladies Club of Oil India, Moran. It has classrooms for the children, an auditorium that can seat 100 guests, a common room for visitors and children, a separate dormitories for junior boys, senior boys and girls, in addition to having a dining room with a perfectly hygienic modern kitchen donated by the All Assam President of ABITA, Mr. Jagdish Bezbaruah, in February 2008.
