Morris Material Handling SA (Pty) Ltd, Southern Africa’s largest crane company, supplies and manufactures electric overhead travelling cranes, hand operated cranes, wire rope hoists, jib cranes, electric & manual chain hoists and accessories. The South African operation was established in 1952 expanding to the present factory of in Apex, Benoni. Today there has been over 10 cranes and thousands of hoists supplied across a variety of industries throughout South Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa and across the world. The product range at Morris is predominantly based around the ABUS range of lifting equipment, a range supplied from ABUS Kransysteme GmbH in Germany. In 1976, the formation of a 3-man Crane Aid branch was established. Crane Aid is today Morris’ national service division which services, maintains, load tests and refurbishes all makes of cranes, hoists and lifting equipment. Crane Aid provide technical teams from the nearest service centre consisting of 12 branches for quick response times for urgent breakdowns. The Morris – Crane Aid head office in Apex Benoni, forms the hub of this nationwide business, providing technical leadership and experience to provide a range of products of superior quality and reliability, with full service back up support, crane refurbishment and modernisation.
