Mothertobaby

MotherToBaby is a service of the non-profit Organization of Teratology Information Specialists (OTIS), a professional scientific society that is dedicated to understanding the effects of environmental agents in maternal and fetal/infant health; preventing negative pregnancy outcomes, including birth defects; and communicating evidence-based information about medications and other exposures in pregnancy and lactation. MotherToBaby affiliates: •Provide up-to-date information to pregnant and lactating women and health care professionals about exposures related to pregnancy and breastfeeding, so they can make informed treatment choices. •Help reduce risks and decrease the number of preventable birth defects by educating the public and health care providers about specific agents of concern. •Empower patients with accurate information about the true risks of an exposure, thereby preventing unnecessary terminations of wanted pregnancies. •Contribute collectively to research and the worldwide literature in the field of teratology through our MotherToBaby Pregnancy Studies, which are observational studies that focus on evaluating the safety (or risk) in pregnancy of medications used to treat a variety of medical conditions, as well as the safety of vaccines in pregnancy.
