Movement Zone Performing Arts Studio

Movement Zone (MZ) is a unique rural dance studio, specialising in Urban Dance, Breakin, Contemporary and Dance Therapy. MZ celebrate diversity and inclusion and represent young adults, parents, grandparents and community members. Dance has been proven to show many benefits for an individuals overall wellbeing. Dance improves cardiovascular endurance, overall muscle strength, balance and coordination. Dance increases energy, enhances concentration and reduces stress levels and improves mental health MZ is lead by Sarah (Sas ) Cook, Sarah (Sas) Cook is an award winning dance professional with 25 years' experience in performing arts, choreography, community development, youth work and business. Sas has worked around Australia, choreographing and producing works for many youth organisations and Schools, impacting thousands of children. She has also choreographed various musicals and music videos and has worked with Indigenous young people, turning their dream time stories into choreographed works for their annual Croc Festivals in The Kimberley. Sas is passionate about the healing and connecting power of dance and innovates regularly to add value to her work where she sees need. She created her dance school Movement Zone in XtremeInc Youth Projects in 2009 with expanded offerings for young people, including scooters, parkour, BMX, street art, music, djing, circus, and more recently an all ages, all abilities class Silver Tops Dance Therapy. Sarah currently teaches 15 classes per week for students aged between 4-90 years of age, specialising in break-dancing, hip-hop, funk, dance-therapy, and contemporary fusion. Sas and Movement Zone are a valued and strong contributor to the Mount Alexander Shire community where she prioritises strong community partnerships, working closely with local residents, business owners, community groups, schools, and local residents, business owners, community groups, schools, and local government.
