Mozambican Red Cross

The mission of the Mozambican Red Cross is to contribute to improving the living conditions of the most vulnerable populations by preventing and alleviating human suffering by mobilizing resources to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence, solidarity and social inclusion. The Mozambique Red Cross, as well as all Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (national and international), follows seven values: HUMANITY The Red Cross strives to protect life and health, to look to others with dignity, to prevent and alleviate human suffering in all circumstances. IMPARTIALITY The order of relief is that of urgency, without any distinction of race, nationality, gender, social status, religion, and political opinion. NEUTRALITY The Red Cross does not take a stand on political, racial, religious and ideological issues; as a way of guaranteeing the universality of its actions. INDEPENDENCE The Red Cross values its autonomy when carrying out humanitarian initiatives, including in supporting the public authorities. VOLUNTEERING We are a non-profit relief and relief organization largely run by volunteers. UNITY In each country there is only one National Red Cross Society with the priority of providing humanitarian aid to vulnerable people in their territory. Each National Society also supports the International Federation in natural disasters. UNIVERSALITY All Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies share the same values and responsibilities in over 190 countries.
