Mpi Magnesium

MPI Magnesium is a Romanian-led, integrated mining and processing project focused on developing one of Europe’s most significant magnesium resources, located in Sibiu County, Romania. Launched in 2020, the project is in an advanced stage of development and authorization. The project will deliver ultra-pure MgO, high-quality Mg(OH)₂ flame retardants and value-added magnesium metal, serving critical industries such as construction, advanced polymers, cables, automotive, aerospace, and electronics. MPI Magnesium is fully aligned with the EU Critical Raw Materials Act, positioning magnesium as both a critical and strategic raw material essential for Europe’s industrial resilience and supply chain security. The project benefits from strong local and EU-level support and aims to contribute to the EU’s target of increasing domestic extraction and processing capacity. Sustainability is embedded at every stage of the project, from low-impact extraction and electric transport to energy-efficient processing and carbon-reduced products. With significant long-term resources, advanced infrastructure planning and a highly experienced management team, MPI Magnesium is set to become a cornerstone of Europe’s next-generation raw materials ecosystem.
