MSE International (MSE) is a marine sector, non-profit cluster organisation located in the leading maritime Solent region of the UK. Established in 2005, MSE aims to stimulate investment by public and private sectors in key areas of ‘Blue Growth’ such as maritime logistics, marine energy, security, aquaculture and management of environment and ocean resources. MSE specialises in consortium-building to invest in innovation; strengthening channels to marine for SMEs and promoting opportunities for growth in the Blue Economy. MSE has successfully built up a project portfolio and international profile within Europe and North America. This includes playing a leading role within the global Blue Tech Cluster Alliance, in close cooperation with The Maritime Alliance in the US. Expanding innovation capacity is a major theme within MSE’s innovation project portfolio. MSE has created and led a series of major European projects targeting new innovation capacity in key markets such as marine energy and offshore infrastructure. MSE has also been highly successful in building consortia that secure investment from Innovate UK, to address key market challenges such as cost reduction in marine energy and its supply chains. In keeping with its non-profit status, MSE still maintains a web-based communications infrastructure of events and newsletters. This ensures that firms can tap into new business opportunities that MSE identifies, and it enjoys an enviable subscriber base.
