MTAM is a global movement that unites academics, universities and funders to collaborate and create solutions to the big issues in academia: open access and the academic publishing model. Academic research is more than a manuscript. It is years of effort, which deserve to be properly recognised and rewarded. It is knowledge, and should be openly accessible for people of all backgrounds to solve the world’s biggest problems. It is work that is generating profit for publishers – billions of dollars – none of which is reinvested back into science. MTAM strives to increase open access, return profits back to science, and revolutionise the industry at its core.
