Mugai Ryu

New students are always welcome and we offer a polite environment for anyone wanting to join. Our friendly dōjō members strive towards ever improving themselves both inside and outside of martial arts. Please make no mistake in assuming we are a ninjutsu dōjō, our Southend on sea martial arts club practices a variety shuriken and other bladed weapons of Meifu Shinkage-ryû which originated from Tenshin Shōden Katori Shintō-ryū, a 600 year old martial art. Throwing shuriken is both fun and very sensible, a strict safety guideline is in practice at all times. We teach two iaidō or Japanese sword fencing styles, iaidō is the perfect martial art for focus and removing stress as well building your confidence. Mugai ryū iaidō is the first syllabus new students will be taught and when ready for shodan (black belt grading) the introduction of Toyama ryū sword syllabus is taught.
