Many years ago, when working with the Board of an ABB company, I recall the then CEO of ABB, Percy Barnevik, declaring that it was time to migrate the company’s core business from “metal bashing” to “know how”. In a more local Board Room back in Aberdeen, another CEO, Jeremy Daly, of ASCO, stated during a Board Meeting, that we sever our biceps from our cerebral cortex at our peril. Since returning from a thirty month assignment with SABIC in Riyadh, I have run Mustang Strategic Ventures in order to leverage a number of strands emerging from the learnings in The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
